Another perfect cycling morning on the island.....the bike was beckoning from the studio so what was one to do? At a lovely leisurely pace I enjoyed a peaceful ride up to Brackley Beach and joined onto the paved bike path passing the Covehead lighthouse & harbour heading over the bridge to Dalvay. The morning light glistened off the marram grass blowing in the wind matching the rhythum of the waves..... a perfect beach day. I met a few tourists from Chicago out for a very serious training run - out of breath - but enjoying the day! I indulged in a quick stop at Dalvay by the Sea - always love the view of the lake - suggesting the traditional travel of yesterday when guests travelled to the island by train to spend some time by the sea. The ocean was lovely but it was time to head back through the hills and fields............but why did the wind have to shift as I turned east??? A very slow ride back to the studio today..............

It is all about the Rustico Sky!

Today has been a dull, overcast day with a little rain - a catch up kind of day......... but the best had been saved for the end of the day. Clouds merged at multiple levels, the sun shone through, white clouds turned into cotton candy then rolled into grey creating a wonderful theatre of colour and form. Just wanted to share these beautiful vistas with you!

Cycling from Gaudreau Fine Woodworking to Stanhope through the National Park

Yesterday was my first cycling venture from our studio, Gaudreau Fine Woodworking to Stanhope returning through the national park on the bike path. It was a beautiful, relaxing and scenic journey in the early morning. Sunshine all the way. The route meanders through the hills with woods and meadows for the first half of the ride with light traffic early in the morning. MacQuarrie's road is a lovely quiet cross road over to Brackley Point Road. The views of Covehead Bay while travelling through Stanhope are breath taking and changing at every corner then you arrive to views of the Covehead lighthouse and then the open ocean! The route is 32.19 km. Hope you get the opportunity to take a ride...
