A lucky cycling day on the island........

A cool crisp November morning today......waiting for the frost to clear.  The colours in the National Park reminded you it was autumn and what a privilege it was today to squeeze in a bike ride!

Water flowing fast!

They came back! 4 ft. of solid concrete from the old bridge was removed from the channel under the Oyster Bed Bridge. Chatted with one of the workers who said that the tide will probably deepen the opening by another four feet. A fabulous improvement to the water flow!! Maybe the channel might come back in a few years. Very pleased to see this job complete!
Thanks to everyone who made this happen!

PEI Loo with a view

A few days ago the PEI Department of Highways arrived at the Oyster Bed Bridge beside our Fine Craft Gallery in South Rustico. The normal equipment of trucks, men, signs arrived but then I noticed a blue dot in the distance........ Yes, it was a loo! I am sure it is one of the best views the boys at the department have had from their blue loos! They will be dredging under the bridge to increase the water flow between the Wheatley River and Rustico Bay which is a great beginning to improving the natural water flow.........:)

Memorable sky in Rustico........

The pictures from July 13, 2009 turned out so well I thought I would compose a little video to remember the evening by......so this is the photos in my little compostion.
The day had been a dull, overcast day with a little rain - a catch up kind of day......... but the best had been saved for the end of the day. Clouds merged at multiple levels, the sun shone through, white clouds turned into cotton candy then rolled into grey creating a wonderful theatre of colour and form. Just wanted to share these beautiful heavens with you! The shots were taken just outside our woodworking studio in Rustico! We invite you to join us on Facebook so we can share our island with you-http://tinyurl.com/woodmagicFB

Reflective Vistas - Cycling from Gaudreau's studio, Rustico to Covehead, Prince Edward Island

Not a breath of wind on a warm, cloudy early July morning was just too tempting to work in the studio. It was well worth the bike ride.......the light was perfect, the rest of the island was still in "do not disturb"........but as we cycled along the sky did clear for a day at the beach if you were so lucky! This is a lovely cycle especially on the bike path in the National Park........ hope you get to enjoy it someday.......

Another perfect cycling morning on the island.....the bike was beckoning from the studio so what was one to do? At a lovely leisurely pace I enjoyed a peaceful ride up to Brackley Beach and joined onto the paved bike path passing the Covehead lighthouse & harbour heading over the bridge to Dalvay. The morning light glistened off the marram grass blowing in the wind matching the rhythum of the waves..... a perfect beach day. I met a few tourists from Chicago out for a very serious training run - out of breath - but enjoying the day! I indulged in a quick stop at Dalvay by the Sea - always love the view of the lake - suggesting the traditional travel of yesterday when guests travelled to the island by train to spend some time by the sea. The ocean was lovely but it was time to head back through the hills and fields............but why did the wind have to shift as I turned east??? A very slow ride back to the studio today..............

Today has been a dull, overcast day with a little rain - a catch up kind of day......... but the best had been saved for the end of the day. Just wanted to share these beautiful vistas with you!

Cycling from Gaudreau Fine Woodworking to Stanhope through the National Park

Yesterday was my first cycling venture from our studio, Gaudreau Fine Woodworking to Stanhope returning through the national park on the bike path. It was a beautiful, relaxing and scenic journey in the early morning. Sunshine all the way. The route meanders through the hills with woods and meadows for the first half of the ride with light traffic early in the morning. MacQuarrie's road is a lovely quiet cross road over to Brackley Point Road. The views of Covehead Bay while travelling through Stanhope are breath taking and changing at every corner then you arrive to views of the Covehead lighthouse and then the open ocean! The route is 32.19 km. Hope you get the opportunity to take a ride...
